Gerberoy

Village

Located in the heart of the Picardie region, the village of Gerberoy is at the crossroads of Beauvais, Rouen and Amiens.

Its calm atmosphere and its charming houses, built out of wood and cob, or bricks and flint - they all have led the village to become listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France and one of the French people’s favorites.

In 1901, Henri Le Sidaner discovered this former walled city, founded in 1078, that bore witness to several wars, including the One Hundred Years war. Henri Le Sidaner fell in love with this sleepy little village and settled there in April of that same year.

The village was a constant source of inspiration to him. Henri Le Sidaner represented it in numerous paintings. Little by little, he shared his passion for flowers with the inhabitants and invited each one to plant two climbing roses in their front yard.

Since then, Gerberoy has been seeing “la vie en roses” and turns itself into a vast rose garden during spring and summer time.

Each year, more than 100,000 visitors come to take part in the traditional Rose Festival. It was created by Henri Le Sidaner and for the past 90 years, it has been an unwavering success!
